Construction & materials

Built to age
beautifully.

A long-lived shoe only makes sense when every part is worth keeping.

A shoe worth resoling must be worth keeping.

Built to be repaired

The first sole
is not the last.

A Goodyear-welted shoe is made to be maintained rather than discarded. When the sole eventually wears out, it can be replaced while the upper and the shoe itself continue their life.

For the owner, the benefit is simple: repair it, resole it and keep wearing a pair that already belongs to you.

The leather has to deserve it

Good leather gets
better, not just older.

We choose leather not only for how it looks new, but for how it can crease, polish, breathe and develop character with time.

Our work includes fine European boxcalf from Tannerie Du Puy and Weinheimer Leder, suede from C.F. Stead, crust leathers, Shell Cordovan and carefully selected special skins.

The same principle continues inside the shoe: good leather uppers deserve proper leather linings, not disposable synthetic substitutes.

The foundation

The sole changes
the whole shoe.

The right sole affects comfort, weight, grip, movement and character. Depending on the project, we work with natural crepe, leather, Vibram, EVA and mixed constructions.

Natural crepe remains one of the most authentic materials in classic creepers: soft, flexible and unmistakable underfoot. But it is not especially resistant to abrasion, so we normally protect it with a thin replaceable rubber layer. The protection takes the wear while the natural crepe above is preserved.

Made for years, not seasons

Good materials make repair worth doing.

Construction, leather, lining and sole are parts of the same idea: making a pair worth caring for, repairing and wearing for as long as possible.
